Leanore M. Patterson, 87, of
Ponce Inlet, formerly of Punta
Gorda, FL,
passed away
on October 27,
2008. Funeral
Services will
be held at 12
noon Friday,
October 31, at
the Ormond
Beach Chapel
of Volusia Memorial Funeral
Homes, 548 N.
Nova Rd., with Reverend Jeff
Sumner officiating. Interment
will follow at Volusia Memorial
Park.
Leanore was born December 9, 1920 to the late William
and Bessie McVaugh in Toughkenamon, Pennsylvania. She attended Goucher College then
transferred to Bucknell University, where she received her Bachelors degree. Following a 25-continuous-year career with Dupont in Wilmington, Delaware,
she attained the position of Executive Secretary to the two
Senior Vice Presidents.
Leanore
was vivacious and a lover of life.
She and her late husband, Jim,
enjoyed flying their private plane
and she actually flew solo while
in her 30's. Upon retirement in
1974, she and Jim refocused
their energies on continuing to
travel and meeting new friends
all over the world, and also were
avid boaters and golfers.
Leanore leaves to cherish her
memory her only child and dear
son, James William, and his wife,
Pamela Loveland Patterson; and
her beloved 24 year old granddaughter, Britni Lane Patterson.
She was preceded in death by
her loving husband of 44 years,
James Wilson Patterson.
In lieu
of flowers, memorial donations
may be made in honor of Leanore to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler's New Smyrna Hospice
House, 1020 Claudia St., New
Smyrna Beach, FL 32168.
